Observations of Critical Zone processes

I use field-based methods to observe and measure deep Critical Zone fluxes of carbon and other elements, and the processes governing them. These unique datasets allow us to establish a direct link between climatic and anthropogenic impacts and terrestrial biogeochemical cycles.

Earth Surface Process Reconstructions

I am interested in the interplay between ladscape formation, terrestrial ecosystems, and climate. Tracing these relationships back in time can help us better predict future feedbacks in the carbon cycle – climate system.

Method Development

Many pressing research questions cannot be answered with the currently available geochemical tools. A large part of my work is therefore centred around the development of new proxies and analytical methods to unravel the signatures of Critical Zone processes in environmental samples.
